The Sun recently reported that Aston Villa were preparing to launch a bid to sign Brentford striker Neal Maupay.
The Frenchman has been in fine form for the Bees so far this season, registering fifteen goals and six assists in 24 Championship appearances. However, the 22-year-old’s performances have been less consistent since the departure of manager Dean Smith.

Smith is now in charge at Villa Park and appears to be keen on a reunion with the prolific forward. The Villans could certainly do with bolstering their attacking contingent in this January transfer window, especially if they’re to make the play-offs this season. Rejoining with Smith could also help Maupay to get back to his best.
