Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has seemingly admitted that Joe Hart will leave in the summer, reports The Mirror.
What’s the word?
It has been widely speculated that the England number one no longer has a future at City after he was shipped out on loan at the start of the season.
Guardiola made it clear very quickly that Hart was not in his plans when he sanctioned a loan move to Torino and brought in Claudio Bravo as the replacement.
The summer arrival has not quite met expectations as he has made a series of blunders, which has resulted in Willy Caballero getting some game time.
Despite experiencing problems in goal, Guardiola has insisted that he is content with the options he already has.
The Mirror claims that when asked if Hart has a future at City, the Spanish coach said:
“I’m so happy with Willy and Claudio. We are going to talk about it at the end of the season.”
Where should Hart go?
Having a player of Hart’s calibre available should prompt plenty of interest from clubs, particularly in the Premier League given that they are already familiar with his qualities.
Liverpool are crying out for a solid figure in between the sticks due to the poor form of Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.
The transfer could be favourable to Hart as he will be back in England’s top flight, would be guaranteed the number one spot and would not have to uproot his life given that he is permanently based in the North West.
Chelsea have also been linked with the shot-stopper, but a potential swoop would likely depend on the whether Thibaut Courtois opts to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.
West Ham United and Arsenal have been touted as potential destinations for Hart, while clubs in foreign leagues could also join the hunt given that the 29-year-old has proven that he can perform well abroad.
The likely stumbling block for a lot of interested parties, though, would be wage demands and whether Hart is willing to negotiate on that front.
