Malawi international and Kansas City Current striker Temwa Chawinga has been crowned the league's top scorer, the NWSL announced Monday. The 26-year-old scored 20 goals in 25 games, setting a league record for the most in a single season.
She surpassed Australian and Chelsea superstar Sam Kerr's 18 goals in October, en-route to reaching 20 across the regular season.

Chawinga scored against every single NWSL team this season, becoming the first player to do so once the league expanded to more than 10 teams. Across the regular season, she scored three-different braces, recorded a league-leading 26 goal contributions and had three separate multi-game goal streaks.
She helped the Current to a fourth-place finish in the regular season standings, including a five-game win streak to top off the season.

The Current were NWSL Championship runners-up in 2022, but earned their first title as an organization in 2024, claiming the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup. Chawinga had three strikes in that tournament.
