Earlier on Monday, L'Equipe reported that PSG are planning to sign Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes this summer as they look to replace Kylian Mbappe, who left the club as a free agent to fulfil his long-standing dream of joining Real Madrid.

However, Fabrizio Romano now claims that the Ligue 1 champions are not working on a deal to sign the United skipper and are rather looking to secure the signature of Fernandes' Portugal teammate Joao Neves from Benfica. He further claimed that the Red Devils are even considering offering a new contract to the 29-year-old midfielder if he stays back at Old Trafford.

Benfica president and Portugal legend Rui Costa had recently admitted that the club has received an offer for Neves, believed to be from PSG. The young midfielder currently has a release clause of €120 million (£101m/$130m).
