After monitoring him for some time, the flight's course changed, and it made an emergency landing at St John’s in Canada. Pearce was then guided by the medics to a hospital. As per the latest update from , the former England star is recovering well following an eight-day stay at the Canadian hospital. Pearce has been discharged and is now said to be "planning his homecoming" after a terrifying ordeal.

He was on his way back to his homeland when the incident happened. During last weekend's Premier League clash between Forest and City, fans from both sides applauded in the third minute of the game in a show of support for Pearce.
