Toby Alderweireld has admitted to Belgian media outlet DH, as translated by Sport Witness, that it is nice to spend time away from Tottenham during the international break, and it is being met with backlash by some Spurs fans.
His viewpoint is understandable, though, given Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won just once in their previous five games, and he has been part of a defence which has conceded 21 goals in the 10 games he has played in.
The centre-back is now with Belgium preparing for their matches against San Marino and Kazakhstan, and said that being with the national team ‘is a nice change of scenery” – it could be if it allows him to rebuild some much-needed confidence.

Some supporters have responded very negatively to his comments, with some even hoping that he doesn’t return to the club, and the general consensus is that he has the wrong attitude if he wishes to succeed with Spurs.
