Everton fans were pleased when it was reported that West Ham United were interested in signing Morgan Schneiderlin before the close of the January transfer window.
However, it is understood that Everton have since informed West Ham that Schneiderlin is not for sale at any price ahead of Wednesday night’s deadline.
The Hammers were said to be prepared to spend £20m on the former Manchester United midfielder, but that deal now looks dead in the water.
Schneiderlin, who is valued at £18m by transfermarkt.co.uk, has started eight of Everton’s last nine matches in all competitions, with the midfielder a regular since Sam Allardyce took control at Goodison Park.
The club’s supporters have been underwhelmed by the Frenchman’s performances, however, with many claiming that the anchorman lacks passion and conviction.
Indeed, Everton supporters took to Twitter on Tuesday to reveal their disappointment at the news that Schneiderlin would be remaining with the Toffees until at least the end of the season.
