The Championship promotion race is now wide open once again after West Brom fell to a 1-0 home defeat to strugglers Stoke, which brought some relief to a few Leeds fans.Marcelo Bielsa’s team may have lost to QPR to stretch their wobble to one win from eight matches but the Baggies have also stalled in the last month, picking up one victory in seven matches – and that came in the FA Cup.That has opened up the promotion to a few teams, with the likes of Fulham, Brentford and Nottingham Forest all breathing down their necks, with the latter also possessing a game in hand over their rivals.
If they win that they will be just two points off the West Yorkshire outfit, and that’s why some supporters are growing increasingly concerned with what is taking place in the rest of the division.
Given the run of the two clubs in the automatic spots, some Leeds fans are fearing the worst about their promotion chances, though given the strength of their respective squads and managers their concerns are a little premature.
After all, there is a reason why the pair had such a healthy points buffer separating them from the playoff positions, and at their best both Leeds and West Brom are capable of enjoying a good run of results, as they have each demonstrated this term.
The Baggies, for example, possess several players with Premier League experience in Matt Phillips, Charlie Austin and Hal-Robson Kanu, with the latter two making up a strikeforce that some supporters believe separates the two clubs.
Call yourself a Leeds expert? How much did each of these January signings cost?
Others have taken a more level-headed view and understand that bad form can hit any side in the division, though the fact Slaven Bilic’s side have slipped in a similar way to Leeds has amused one supporter.
Meanwhile, fans have been weighing up two transfer targets and discussing which player they would rather the club sign, with some interesting comments being made.
