Liverpool have been put on red alert as Andreas Weimann has turned down another contract offer from Aston Villa.
Weimann has been somewhat of a diamond in the rough in Villa’s desperate season to avoid the drop. After spending part of last season on loan at Watford Wiemann has managed a breakthrough with Villa so far grabbing an impressive 11 goals this term. Due to this the 21 year old has attracted the attention of Reds boss Brendan Rodgers, who may be keen to boost his attack for the following season. Claret and blue boss Paul Lambert will be desperate to keep the Austrian, especially if they survive the relegation battle.
Weimann has also attracted the attention of other clubs across the water such as Inter Milan. Speaking to Interlive.it Weimann’s agent Robert Groener said: “At the moment there is nothing concrete. I have not had any contact with Marco Branca or any other Inter directors. His contract with Villa expires in 2014, so if they do not renew then he could be sold over the summer.” (Metro)
Villa play Liverpool this Sunday so Weimann could use this as a chance to impress his possible future employer having already scored in the first of this fixture earlier on this season.
