Manchester United's latest financial reports have revealed how much money it cost the Red Devils to sack Erik ten Hag and hire Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United started their season off terribly under Ten Hag after having handed the Dutchman a two-year contract extension in the summer. While the Red Devils' top brass tried to continue with Ten Hag as the head coach, the former Ajax manager was shown the door after United achieved just four wins in their first 14 games in all competitions. Earlier this month, Manchester United announced the hiring of Amorim from Sporting CP and the Portuguese coach joined Old Trafford a couple of weeks ago.

Manchester United recently released their latest financial statements which revealed how much the operations cost to fire Ten Hag and sign Amorim. As per the report, Ten Hag's departure cost the 20-time top-flight champions £10.4 million ($13.1m), including compensation for other departing staff members like Ruud van Nistelrooy. On the other hand, the Red Devils also had to shell out £11 million ($13.9m) to sign Amorim, including paying the release clause to Sporting, buying out his notice period and bringing his coaching staff to Old Trafford.

Manchester United had considered sacking Ten Hag in the summer, however, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS decided against the big call. However, in hindsight, it would have cost the club a lot less than they actually had to this season as the Dutchman only had a contract until 2025.
