The Reds captain is into the last six months of his contract and is yet to sign a new deal. After his team's 4-1 win over Ipswich Town, the 33-year-old reflected on his 300th game for the club and issued an update on his future that may concern Liverpool fans.

He said: "Very proud. My family and my kids were here today so it was a special day. I might get a glass of red wine tonight (Saturday) just to celebrate, me and my wife. But that's it. The focus is then on the next game. There will be a day one day when I reflect on everything that's happened to me at Liverpool. Then I'll have a proper think about what stands out. Hopefully there are still good things to come. I have no idea (how many more appearances he'll make). How many left this season? Hopefully those are guaranteed and then I don't know what the future will bring. That (his 69.7 win percentage at Liverpool) shows I did quite well up until now. It's down to everyone involved – the players, the managers, the fans. It's a good stat to have. We will keep going. Good win so now we focus on the next one.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Van Dijk is playing as well as he ever has for Liverpool at present and keeping him beyond this season is surely a must. If the Reds were to lose soon-to-be out-of-contract trio Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer, that would be a huge loss for Arne Slot's men.
